Inspire Today, Inspire Tomorrow.
Shaun Tai is the Executive Director of Oakland Digital, an award-winning 501(c)(3) community building organization bridging the digital literacy and opportunity divide among women-owned small businesses and designers seeking tech careers.
In 2008, Shaun successfully documented the history of Bay Area urban music, creating an online campaign that exceeded 14-million video views. The project opened his eyes to a lack of positive role models and opportunities afforded to young adults in East Bay inner-city communities—a realization that would play a large part in his decision to create Oakland Digital.
Shaun has taught at San Jose State University, where he received an M.A in Architectural & Urban Design (Interdisciplinary Studies, 4.0 GPA) and a B.S in Advertising Management (Magna Cum Laude, 3.8 GPA). In 2002, Shaun Tai graduated with honors from California State University, East Bay with a B.A in Digital Graphics.
In 2004, Shaun founded ZTY Media, a full-service creative agency with clients including Facebook, Accel Partners, and the City & County of San Francisco. At Oakland Digital, his digital entrepreneurship has led to a $2.5 million dollar boost in the East Bay economy, benefitting local students and businesses through economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.
